The entire Long Course (50 Meters) swim
meets dates are below so you can plan accordingly. The Long Course season has a special meaning in this Olympic
year. We all can marvel and appreciate
how fast the Olympic swimmers are, and cheer for them.
June
Downey Swim Meet:
The June swim meet will also be in Downey, on June 9th
& 10th. Our team-wide sign-ups will be on Wednesday, May 23rd.
If you cannot make it for our team
sign up, you can always just mail in a white card for each swimmer, which is
due by March 7th. Remember to
enter your best times. If you have
not swum an event before, just place “N.T” (for No Time), or leave it blank.
Tip: With your White Card, you can mail in a
self-addressed, stamped post-card.
This will be mailed back to you to confirm your entry was received.
June
Invitational (Age Group Championship) Swim Meet:
If you have a June Invite time, you qualify to enter this swim meet. This is a higher-caliber swim
meet. This will be at La Mirada
from June 21st – 24th. Our team-wide sign-ups will be on
Wednesday, June 6th.
July
La Mirada Swim Meet:
This La Mirada meet is on July 14th-15th. If you have not been at the La Mirada
Splash pool, make a point of making this meet. As mentioned in the April swim meet section, this pool is so
nice for so many reasons. The
weather should be very pleasant, and tending toward the hot side, so swimming
is definitely the thing to do.
Our team-wide sign-ups will be on Wednesday,
June 27th.
Long
Course (Summer) Junior Olympics (JOs):
If you have a Summer JO time, you qualify for this swim meet. For the last few years, our team has
been attending the JO at Cal Lutherern University. (There are 3 JOs in the summer running at the same time in
Southern California Swimming).
We’ll keep you posted where we are going this summer; we should know by
the end of April.
The JOs will go from July 25th thru the 29th.
Long
Course Metro Championship Swim Meet:
The Metro Championship Meet marks the end of the Long Course
season and will be on August 4th-5th weekend in Downey.
This Metro Championship meet is a great opportunity to win
medals and have fun as a team.
First, each division (White, Red and Blue) gets to win medals for the
top 3 finishers. This is a great
opportunity to both better your times and try to get a medal at the same
time. Also, this meet mixes both
the younger and older age groups from morning to late afternoon, so our team
gets to see and cheer for all our swimmers together.
Note: Our team usually takes a 2 week break at the end of
August. There is no practice or
swim meets, and we resume the beginning of September.
